McConkey Movie: Premier at Tribeca Film Festival

The documentary trailer for McConkey opens with early video of Shane McConkey, “there he is: the man, the myth, not a legend yet–he’s too young.” Today, Shane McConkey has certainly obtained legendary status at Squaw Valley and within the international ski community as a whole. McConkey, a film by MSP Films and Red Bull Media House that examines Shane’s legacy as a pro-athlete, does not officially release until October 2013. However, it recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Vagina Monologues

Coming soon to the North Tahoe Events Center is the hugely popular play, The Vagina Monologues. Now an annual tradition in the Tahoe area, the Tahoe Safe Alliance brings this fan-favorite show about all things female back on stage from April 26-27, 2013 as benefit performances supporting the V-Day 2013 Campaign.

The popular play, written by American playwright and performer Eve Ensler, delves into both the serious and funny aspects of the female experience. Originally a series of monologues performed by Ensler herself, this internationally renowned and award-winning play now features three or more actresses performing the show. Each year, a new monologue about a current event is added, which makes it as fresh as it is relevant. At the showings on the 26th and 27th, local community members will do the readings, so come out and have some fun while supporting a great cause!
