If you’re a skier or snowboarder then you know the necessity of warming up for a big day on the hill, or the joy of cooling down those achy muscles from a long day of playing hard. Yoga is just the thing; and you’re in luck because there’s a fabulous yoga studio just steps from Squaw Valley Lodge in the Village at Squaw. Climb out of your comfy bed at 7am and come “flow” while watching the snow fall at Squaw. Follow your class with a hot cup of tea and breakfast and explore Upper Mountain with muscles rearing to go! Or maybe you’re someone who would like to work out their kinks on a day off from the mountain. Either way, you’ll find it at Wanderlust Yoga Squaw Valley.

If you’re not a local, or don’t plan on a membership.  you can always drop in at any class! In fact, with a Squaw Alpine Season Pass you’ll save with the Passholder Drop In Yoga Class – only $13.70 a class versus $17.00. Click here for more details!

If you do plan on practicing yoga a lot this winter while you’re making use of your season pass, there’s also a great discount available for passholders: $79.20/month for the 3 Month Commitment (originally $99/month). Click here to learn more.

Twilight Snowshoe Tour at North Lake Tahoe

Sun setting SV cam 3

There is nothing like the mountains at sunset. The alpen glow is enchanting. One of the most beautiful and invigorating things about Lake Tahoe in the winter time is a chilly night under the stars. On a clear night – oh the stars! They light up the sky.

Though skiing and snowboarding are such fun at Squaw Alpine, why not try something new like snowshoeing? Twilight Snowshoe Tours are going on this winter at Northstar Resort, where you’ll enjoy a guided evening tour under the stars and through Sierra Nevada trees at mountain top. The 2 to 2.5 hour trek starts out at the Cross Country, Telemark and Snowshoe Center at 5pm, and caps off the evening around a fire pit with s’mores and hot cocoa. How about an adventure for the whole family before you have to tuck the kiddos in for the night?

Biggest Nothern California Storm In 6 Years

In the last week Mother Nature dumped 25 inches on Squaw Valley, and she’s not ready to let up!

A huge storm will hit Northern California Wednesday evening, significantly impacting the Sacramento Valley, with possibly 3-5 inches of rainfall and fierce winds up to 60 MPH. Locals and emergency services are preparing for power outages, flooding, stalled vehicles, and mudslides, etc. Though not ideal conditions for residents, the upside to the monster storm is more powder in the North Lake Tahoe area!

With varying levels from different forecast models, we could very well see 1-2 feet above 7,000 feet and 6-12 inches at lake level. We’ll keep you updated as the storm rolls in–of course those powder totals could vary come Friday. The bigger the better! The deeper the snow, the better skiing and snowboarding for the whole family.
