2018/19 Squaw Alpine Ski Resort Opening Day

Of course we love spring, summer and fall, but it’s never too early to think about winter. It’ll be here before you know it, and the great news is we have an opening date for Squaw Alpine – November 16! There’s something so electrifying about Opening Day at Squaw Alpine before the Thanksgiving holiday. Stay tuned for all kinds of fun things happening in conjunction with lifts running in mid-November.

If you don’t have your season pass lined up yet, check out the IKON Pass, which affords you awesome skiing/riding at Squaw Alpine but also 35 other destinations across North America! What a great way to enjoy the slopes on your favorite local mountain, but take advantage of other resorts you have yet to ski/ride!

If the IKON Pass is not quite up your alley right now – perhaps you’re still learning to ski/ride – then you could take advantage of the Tahoe Super 4-Packs, which are on sale now! The 4-pack is four lift tickets valid any four days at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows this winter season with no blackout dates. 2018 Halloween Harvest Festival at Squaw Creek

Autumn would not be autumn without a quintessential Halloween-inspired festival, full of gooey caramel apples, pumpkin carving contest and face painting for the kiddos. We have just the one to satisfy the whole family!

Throw on your favorite scarf or puffy vest and head over to the Resort at Squaw Creek for their Halloween Fall Festival, taking place Friday, October 5 to Sunday October 7; and the following weekend Friday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14, 2018. The aspen leaves have changed colors, and are a beautiful sight in Squaw Valley – don’t miss the chance to soak in fall before winter descends on Tahoe.

The fall festival offers something for every age with a special beer on tap at Sandy’s Pub, Apple Bobbing Contest on Sandy’s Deck at 2PM, live music on Sandy’s Deck from 2-5PM, Fishing Derby from 12-2PM, Halloween Costume Bear Factory from 2-4PM, Pumpkin Carving Contest from 3-5PM, and Scary Stories and S’mores from 8:30 to 9PM by the fire.

Fun Summer Tahoe Vacation: July 4th Holiday Week!

You’re staying with us for July 4th(yay – welcome!) or maybe you’re lodging around the North Lake Tahoe area and wondering what summer activities to line up while vacationing with your kiddos, parents, grandparents, dog, ten bikes, and Thule car rack. We’ve got you covered!

The good thing is summer really comes alive during the July 4thholiday week. That can prove to be really fun, or challenging when it comes to traffic, depending on how you approach your vacation in the North Lake Tahoe area. If you’re staying in the valley (Squaw, that is) we recommend you take advantage of the plethora of fun activities lined up that require no roundtrip transportation:

When you’re vacationing in the area during the July 4 holiday you don’t want to miss the fireworks show! There are several to choose from around North Lake Tahoe, from the show on July 3 at Kings Beach to the July 4 festivities at Tahoe City. The fireworks usually begin at 9:30PM and we advise you park yourself early with a sunscreen, cozy blanket, snacks, and drinks. They are certainly worth the excursion to the lake to watch the night sky ablaze above tranquil Lake Tahoe.

Aside from the beloved annual Truckee July 4thParade(a taste of local patriotism), there are other fun ways to get out and enjoy the lively holiday, like the Run to the Beach 5K and 10K, and after you’ve worked up a good sweat swing by Garwoods for a quintessential taste of Tahoe: the famous Wet Woody.

You’ve watched movies on the big screen in the great outdoors, biked to Tahoe City and floated the Truckee River, run a 5K or 10K at North Lake Tahoe, tried a famously tasty Wet Woody, but be sure to enjoy the simple summer pleasures. Hike up Shirley Canyon. Walk through Squaw Valley along the bike path and admire the peaks that rise up from the valley floor. Pick wildflowers at High Camp. Jump off the public docks that sprinkle the north side of Donner Lake. Kayak Lake Tahoe at dawn with the birds, and soak in the solitude.

Summer’s Here with Memorial Day at Squaw Valley!

It’s been an incredible winter at Squaw Valley with Miracle March dropping 18 feet of snow for great spring skiing for the whole family! Monday, May 28th marks your last day of the season to get in turns at Squaw Valley, and then it’s time to bid farewell to Old Man Winter. Memorial Day weekend signifies the start to summer, and Lake Tahoe is full and ready for warm weather family fun!

Squaw Valley Lodge celebrates summer by opening their pool Friday, May 25! Lounging in the sun not your thing? Enjoy a round of golf on 250 acres of beautiful mountain terrain in the valley (check out Resort at Squaw Creek to book your tee times). Rent bikes at Factory Bike Rental, and cruise along the Truckee River Bike Trail into Tahoe City for a scoop of ice cream, or ride even farther down the West Shore for a drink on the infamous deck at Sunnyside Restaurant. All are iconic ways to kick off summer at Tahoe!

Or join in the fun with the sixth annual The Village at Squaw Valley’s Made in Tahoe Festival where you can enjoy all things local (over 100 vendors), great food, and live music and performances.
