2013 Truckee Day

If you’re looking for a truly local experience in the Truckee-Tahoe region, then join others for the street clean-up and town-wide block party at Truckee Day. You don’t need to pre-register. Just show up at 8am at any of the 22 check-in stations, grab your volunteer tee, and you’ll get your assignment for the area of Truckee to clean up! Children are welcome as well, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

After you’ve made your sweep (thank you for giving back to our community!) head over to the town-wide block party at 12pm, located at Truckee River Regional Park on Brockway Road. Eat up: you earned it!

Kentucky Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo: Lake Tahoe Weekend Fun

Although some are celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Saturday evening (perhaps to avoid that margarita hangover on Monday morning) there’s always the historic Kentucky Derby Day on Saturday, May 4 that’s cause for celebration! You technically don’t have to choose between bourbon and tequila: mint julep or margarita? In fact, we have just the spot for you to celebrate both on this very warm, spring weekend in May: River Ranch Lodge in Tahoe City/Alpine Meadows!

Throw on your Derby hat and heels for Saturday’s festivities and trade them in for a sombrero on Sunday.

Kentucky Derby Day at River Ranch Lodge, May 4, 11:30am-4:00pm

Wear your best Derby Hat and win a prize! Bar opens at 11:30 a.m. for pre-race coverage. River Ranch Lodge will serve traditional Derby fare including Kentucky Hot Browns and Mint Juleps: the official drink of the race!

Cinco de Mayo Celebration at River Ranch Lodge, May 5, 4:30pm-8:30pm

It’s tequila time! Come celebrate a day of Mexican heritage and pride with Mexican beer and margarita specials. Complimentary mini-appetizers are served as well!

Noel Nights at Northstar California

Noel Nights at Northstar California has truly become a landmark celebration. This Lake Tahoe event centers around a 35-foot Christmas tree located in the heart of Northstar Village. From 5pm to 8pm, village residents and local shops pull out all of the stops to make Noel Nights the thing to do in Lake Tahoe. A great experience for all members of the family, Noel Nights features ice skating until 9pm, a variety of fire pits to gather around and keep warm, s’mores, holiday carolers, and great shopping deals. InnerRythms kicks off this Lake Tahoe event at 6:30 on December 6^th followed by the lighting of the 35-foot Christmas tree at 7:15.

Afterwards, there are a wide variety of family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy complementary One Horse Sleigh Rides every Thursday of Noel Nights from 5 to 8 pm. It’s undoubtedly the best way to see all that the village has to offer. While on that sleigh ride, visitors often cross paths with The Great Basin Carolers, a collection of singers who perform all of the holiday classics as they wander through Northstar Village. Of course, Santa always makes an appearance at this Lake Tahoe event. He will be available for photos every Thursday from 6-8pm. And for those looking to write their best Christmas wishes, Northstar offers ample opportunities.

All servers at Rubicon Pizza will donate their time and tips to Project Mana. Be sure to come hungry and ready to feast!

Truckee-Tahoe Air Fair and Family Festival is a FREE inaugural event, complete with live music, kid-friendly activities, a food court and beer garden, aircraft fly-bys, static aircraft displays with pilot docents, free FAA Chapter 1073 Young Eagle flights for kids ages 8 to 17. You can even ride your bike and park at the free Truckee Trails Foundation Bike Valet, from 7am to 4pm.

Opening Ceremony kicks off at 11am. Kids fly for free 8am to 12pm.

Presented by the Truckee Tahoe Airport District.

Lakeside Lobster Dinner

Dine on a delectable lobster dinner overlooking Lake Tahoe at the Kings Beach Event Center Terrace, to benefit The Rotary Club of Tahoe City. There are also raffle prizes as well, so you could win big!

Tickets are limited and must be purchased by June 29, so this is the last day to reserve your seat (and lobster)!
