Lake Tahoe June Events: Tahoe City Wine Walk

What is better than summer-time shopping, sipping and eating along the beautiful streets of Tahoe City? Sponsored by the Tahoe City Downtown Association, the Tahoe City Wine Walk kicks off the Tahoe City Solstice Festival on June 23, 2012 from 12pm-4pm, rain or shine!

“Discover Wines with a View” while you stroll along the lakefront boardwalk through Tahoe City, entertained by live music, sampling local and regional wines and delectable food from local Tahoe restaurants and caterers. Check out what the Tahoe City Downtown Association has put together for The Solstice Festival:

“The Solstice Festival celebrates the start of summer by showcasing Tahoe City through a variety of events designed to encourage visitation in our beautiful downtown. The Tahoe City Wine Walk features wines of the Sierra and food tastings at local merchants and restaurants throughout downtown. Other festival events include a Solstice Stroll Classic Car Show, PaddleFest on the shores of Lake Tahoe, and the opening of the summer series Concerts at Commons Beach. During the Wine Walk, outdoor live music will be at both ends of the lakefront boardwalk.”

Tickets $35 before June 23rd, $45 day of the event. Cash only.

Day-of-event tickets will be available at one of the 3 registration tables:

  • Boatworks Mall (East end of town)
  • Heritage Plaza (center of town);
  • North Tahoe Arts Center (West end of town).

The Alpen Wine Festival

Labor Day Weekend marks the end of summer, and with a chill in the air already, it’s time to think about pulling out your light knits and possibly your boots. Here’s your chance to enjoy back-to-back weekends of wine tastings.

Kick off an early fall at The Village at Squaw with over 40 vineyards, benefiting Can Do Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at the 23rd Annual Alpen Wine Festival. Your $40 donation at the door includes a commemorative crystal wine glass and supports the leading organization in empowering the healthy lifestyles of people with MS and their life partners. Enjoy live music, and peruse the silent auction and raffle, where you could score Squaw Valley Lodging packages.

Now that you have whet your appetite for harvest season, head out to The Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival next weekend and support our local chefs as they compete for top culinary prizes!


22nd Annual Lake in the Sky Air Show

The annual Lake Tahoe Air Show is dubbed the “biggest and best air show in the High Sierra.”  This festival has been a yearly event for nearly two decades and includes some of the nation’s best aerobatic performers like Bill Cornick and Jon Melby. Grab the whole family and come out to the South Lake Tahoe Airport for Warbird fly-by’s and a chance to see military aircraft in action! And if you’re a history buff, it’s a chance to see the legendary p-51 Mustang – the #1 fighter plane of WWII.

Lake Tahoe Festival of Arts

Howard Alan Events, Ltd is proud and excited to bring a first class art affair to the Lake Tahoe. The Lake Tahoe Festival of Arts will be located on Ski Run Blvd in South Lake Tahoe.

Over 150 artists from around the nation will be on display for this juried art affair! Patrons will be able to peruse mediums such as paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, pottery and much more. All artists will be on hand for visitors to learn their inspiration for their masterpieces and even purchase a customized piece to fit each unique individual.

The event is complimentary and open for viewing 10am to 5pm.


Wanderlust California 2011

We are pleased to welcome Wanderlust for its third year in a row at Squaw Valley, July 28th to 31st. You don’t want to miss this four day festival of yoga and wellness, music and an outdoor experience with one of the most beautiful backdrops on earth. Learn from the top yoga instructors in the nation. Dive into a session on mediation. Explore the trails of High Camp and take your practice to the mat at 8200 feet. Get your groove on at the Globetrotter Stage, featuring Michael Franti and Spearhead. Chill in the Kula Village with other yogis and “Rock the Casbah” at another musical venue, The Casbah.


Commons Beach Live Concerts

It’s a quiet Sunday afternoon in Lake Tahoe and the whole family is up for a shoreline picnic. Grab your beach chairs, a great spread and head on down to Common’s Beach for free live music. Concerts at Commons Beach begin at 4:30pm and usually run until 7pm. It has been a highly popular event this year, and you definitely want to arrive early to snag a great spot.

Next Sunday, July 24th,  features The Eric McFadden Trio. The season runs until September 4th as the “Grand Finale” with The Mother Hips and The Beer Gardeners.
