The documentary trailer for McConkey opens with early video of Shane McConkey, “there he is: the man, the myth, not a legend yet–he’s too young.” Today, Shane McConkey has certainly obtained legendary status at Squaw Valley and within the international ski community as a whole. McConkey, a film by MSP Films and Red Bull Media House that examines Shane’s legacy as a pro-athlete, does not officially release until October 2013. However, it recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

First snow on 10/22/12 left Squaw with a 28" base.

With 2 to 3 feet of fresh snow on the ground in the past 24 hours, of course the only thing on our mind is Opening Day around Lake Tahoe.

We’re ready to ski. We’re ready to ride. We’re ready for bluebird days. We’re ready for our first KT lines. We’re ready for après ski, basking in the Tahoe sun; a cold brewskie or a hot toddy in hand.

Boreal: October 26 

Diamond Peak: December 13
